FISU AMERICA GAMES

Trinity Western University Men's Volleyball has been asked to represent Canada at the 2018 FISU America Games in San Paulo, Brazil. The team will be in Brazil from July 20-30, participating in the games against great volleyball nations like the host, Brazil, Argentina and the USA. The team will also be part of a number of service projects in schools and churches working with young athletes and bringing shoes to children that need great footwear. While it is a great honor to be asked to represent our country and our school, we have not been given money to make the trip.

The players and coaches are contributing 50% of the funds needed for the trip from their own pockets and are looking to partner with you to raise the other 50%. The money will cover airfare, food/lodging and the cost of ground transportation to the schools and churches that the team works in while in San Paulo.

The funds are needed by July 15th so join the Spartans/Team Canada as they attempt to bring home an international gold medal and serve the children of San Paulo.

"Three times throughout my Spartan career I was able to represent Canada on the international stage (2011 in Qatar at the World Club Championships, 2012 in Langley at the Pan Am Cup and 2015 in China on the Goodwill Tour.

These trips opened my eyes to what it takes to play at the highest level of volleyball and also opened my eyes to different cultures around the world. In my opinion, my current reality of playing professionally in Germany was solidified on these trips. I am so excited that the current team would have the opportunity to play in a great volleyball country like Brazil.”

"Having the chance to represent Canada as a Trinity Western University athlete is one of the greatest memories of my life. Having the opportunity to don the maple leaf jersey is a dream come true and to be able to do it with your best friends from Trinity Western University is even that much more special. Some of my best memories are from playing with Trinity Western University in Russia and Qatar.
These opportunities lead me to dream of playing for Canada at the Olympics and professionally. I have been able to do both of these, have met my wife while playing professionally and I can honestly say that none of this would have happened without the opportunities that these trips gave me as a young Trinity Western University athlete. The chance for the current team to go to Brazil is an incredible privilege that I am sure will also be life changing for them."

"Being a part of the Men's Volleyball programme at Trinity Western University have given me some amazing opportunities and responsibilities. It has been an honour for me to represent Trinity Western University within Canada, and I am proud that Trinity Western University has been given the chance to represent Canada to the rest of the world as well. To play for both the Spartans and Team Canada at the same time is unique and valuable chance for our current group of student-athletes, and i'm sure that both our university and our country will be proud."
